A large number of people, including the Afghan Consul General, attended the funeral of Maulana Hamidul Haqqani – Head of (JUI -S) – who was martyred in an explosion of suicide at the Darul Uloom Haqqania in the Akora Khattak region of the Nowsa district of the Khyber -Pakhtunkhwa district.
The bombing, which occurred after the Friday prayers, killed Maulana Hamidul-Haq Haqqani and others.
After the tragic incident, a large crowd gathered at Madrassa, where the funeral prayers of Maulana Hamid al-Haq were led by her son, Maulana Sahibzada Abdul Haq Sani.
Close security arrangements were in place around Darul Uloom Haqqania, with police forces deployed in large numbers, and scanners installed at the entry points of Madrassa.
With the funeral of Maulana Hamidul-Haq, the funeral of two other martyrs of Swabi, Abdul Waheed and the poet and writer Tajamul Shah (known as Tajamul Farhan), also took place. Abdul Waheed’s funerals were carried out in his village in Zida, while Tajamul Shah was in his village in Jalsai.
Police Inspector Zulfiqar Hameed visited Nowshera to assess the security agreements for the funeral of Darul Uloom Haqqania.
He also attended a meeting at the DPO de Nowshera office with regional and investigative agents, as well as officials of the Department of Counter-Terrorism (CTD).
During the meeting, the regional police officer provided a detailed briefing on the progress of the investigation into the attack.
The Inspector General condemned the attack on the sacred Madrassa, appealing to him a cowardly act by the enemies of the nation.
He urged his officers to use their professional skills to apprehend the authors and translate them into justice.
He reassured that such terrorist acts would not affect the determination of the nation, declaring that the police would work with the public to thwart the plans of enemies and restore peace in the country.
