The Sony Blockchain division brings the Japanese social media line line in the web3 world, with plans to adapt several popular mini-applies to the Sony soeneium network, the company announced on Wednesday.
Line reports around 200 million active users on its platform, and the agreement will bring four line games, or “mini-application”, to Soneium: Sleepagotchi, Farm Frens, Puffy Match and Pocket Mob. Integration is intended to facilitate features such as rewards and purchases at stake.
Soneium is mainly managed by Sony Block Solutions Labs, a joint program between Starletale Labs, based in Singapore. SBSL is considering partnership as a means of “transcending the limits, allowing users to undergo the advantages of web3 without friction”, according to a shared press release with Coindesk.
“Line has built a strong presence and integrating successful mini-applies in the SONEIUM ecosystem is a next step towards the more accessible SONEIUM meeting,” said Jun Watanabe, president of Sony Block Solutions Labs. “We believe that this collaboration will stimulate commitment and adoption in a way that was previously difficult to achieve.”
Soneium was put online in January and at the time, the team said they hoped to reject web2 users in the web3 space. The blockchain is a layer-2 above Ethereum which uses OP OP technology. It is currently classified as the 15th largest network of layer 2 per total locked value, according to L2 Beat.
