- The Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold could be the first foldable phone with an IP68 note
- This would give it more dust resistance than other foldable
- He could also have a thinner hinge and a larger cover screen than his predecessor
The best foldable phones have traveled a long way in recent years, but they still have followed conventional handsets with regard to dust resistance. This could change, however, with the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold.
According to the big titles of Android, the next foldable of Google will have an IP68 note. It is the same note as you will find it on high -end handsets like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and the iPhone 16 Pro, and this means that the phone will be tightly tied and water -resistant to depths up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.
This is a fairly standard feature on the best candybar phones, but this is not something you will find on foldable phones at present, although they are generally among the most expensive phones you can buy.
The Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold, for example, has an IPX8 note, which means that it has the same level of water resistance but no dust resistance. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 is a little better with an IP48 note, which means that it is good for water resistance and has a certain resistance to dust, but it is only protected against things that are larger than 1 mm.
So, if this leak is correct, then the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold could be the first foldable phone which is properly protected against dust – although it is possible that other foldable to come, like the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, can beat it in this respect, because the Samsung phone will probably be launched earlier.
A thinner hinge and a larger screen
In any case, this report also claims that the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold will have a slim hinge than its predecessor, which will allow the phone as a whole to be also thinner. They do not say to what extent, but for reference, the Pixel 9 Pro fold has a thickness of 5.1 mm when it is unfolded and 10.5 mm thick when folded.
In addition, the cover screen of the 10 Pro Fold pixel will be apparently slightly larger at 6.4 inches (up 6.3 inches on the current model).
All of this is reassuring to hear, because the previous leaks of Pixel 10 Pro suggest that little else could improve. So, at least if the latest information is correct, there could be reasons to upgrade.
We could discover exactly what the Pixel 10 Pro Fold has to offer on August 20, because the leaks suggest that it is when it landed, the phone likely to get alongside the rest of the Google Pixel 10 series.
