The government has raised concerns about security risks posed by portable intelligent devices, including smart watches and fitness trackers, calling them potential threat to cybersecurity, Express News reported.

The National Telecom and Information Technology Security Board (NTISB) has published the opinion, warning that these devices could compromise sensitive information. According to sources, the firm’s division has recommended a ban on using such devices to sensitive locations.

The cybersecurity opinion has highlighted the risk of data leakage and unauthorized monitoring posed by portable devices. “These intelligent devices are used to disclose confidential information, and their use in sensitive locations could lead to cyber attacks,” said the opinion.

The NTTISB also indicated that before any use of these devices to sensitive locations, an in -depth examination of their safety mechanisms should be carried out. The opinion also recommended that they are imposing restrictions on their use during crucial meetings or locations dealing with sensitive operations.

With concerns about confidentiality and national security, the Council indicates an increasing accent on the safeguarding of digital environments against potential threats.
