The ruling coalition on Friday welcomed the court’s verdict in the Al-Qadir Trust case, saying justice had come full circle. Justice Minister Azam Nazir Tarar has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to an independent judiciary while highlighting irregularities in the £190 million settlement case. He said matters falling under Article 175 fell exclusively within the judicial domain. Speaking to reporters, Tarar slammed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership for making statements in the media instead of presenting their case in court. Ultimately, a trial court handed down sentences of 10 and 7 years for those found guilty. The Minister of Justice underlined the government’s commitment to transparency and justice, while emphasizing the role of the judiciary in addressing these issues. Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said the defense lawyer fought the case for political reasons and presented no evidence to counter the evidence provided by the prosecution. While speaking to the media outside Parliament, he said the scam was the biggest corruption case in Pakistan’s history. The minister said the judge said in the verdict that the defense lawyer could not present evidence proving the innocence of the accused. He said the defense team was not even able to respond to the evidence of bribery, corruption and abuse of power and authority provided by the prosecution. The founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf could not present strong evidence in court to prove his innocence. He lamented that the PTI was in the habit of using the religion card and in this case they tried to hide behind religion. Tarar said the PTI has the right to appeal but will have to prove that no sealed envelope was brought to the cabinet meeting and that it did not approve the agenda item . "Corruption and bribery are proven in this case, abuse of power is also proven."
The minister said the sentence was imposed on the accused while fulfilling the legal conditions. The sentence handed down was based on merit, the accused had failed to prove their innocence, he noted. Planning Minister Professor Ahsan Iqbal said the court’s decision in the £190 million corruption case, which he called the “biggest corruption case” in the political history of the Pakistan, had revealed the true face of the PTI founder and his wife.
"This is the largest corruption case in Pakistan’s political history, perhaps in South Asia, which resulted in conviction following clearly documented evidence and a trial." he said at a press conference. He remarked how strange it was that the PTI founder deceived and gathered public support in the name of Tehreek-e-Insaf to gain access to the corridors of power; and plundered the public treasury. He urged the nation, especially the youth and PTI supporters who were disappointed after seeing the true face of the PTI founder, to unite and be part of the country’s plan “URAAN PAKISTAN” to transform the country into one of the country’s leading economies. 21st century. Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said that when PTI founder President Imran Khan shouted slogans of thieves and thieves, he himself had committed a big fraud. Addressing a press conference at his residence in Sialkot, he said that false allegations were made against Nawaz Sharif and when nothing was found against him, he was exiled from the country over the issue of ” Iqama”. He declared that the so-called Al-Qadir University did not exist; its directors were Imran Khan’s wife and himself. It has been four years since Al-Qadir University was established, but it currently has around 300 students. "Have universities had the same number of students for so many years," he asked. Asif said the media should go there and investigate the number of courses held at Al-Qadir University; how many degrees are awarded, what education is provided there, what is the role of this university and see what is happening there, how many people have graduated from it in the last four years and how many students are currently studying there , he added. Federal Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan and SAFRON Engineer Amir Muqam said that the judiciary has established the supremacy of judiciary. In a statement released after the verdict, the minister said no one was above the law and accountability was equal for all. The minister said the verdict in the Al-Qadir Trust case was a victory for transparency and justice. Those who say they are honest and trustworthy have turned out to be the biggest thieves, he added. Sharjeel Inam Memon, Chief Minister of Sindh and Provincial Minister for Information, Transport and Public Transport, described January 17 as the most important day in the history of Pakistan. "Another truth has come to light today. A person who has been misleading the public for years under the guise of truth and honesty, with a mask of righteousness, now has that mask removed."
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, Memon said the 126-day sit-in was an attempt to blackmail the state. He stressed that this individual should not be associated with Pakistan or its people, adding that "PTI continues to act against the state only for the benefit of one person". He said the punishment meted out to Imran Khan and his wife is a consequence of the very practices that Imran Khan himself had carried out.
"Imran Khan used NAB to have his opponents arrested and targeted. If anyone spoke against him on a TV show, he would receive a notice from NAB the very next day."
The state minister said that Imran Khan had jailed PPP Chairman Asif Ali Zardari and Ms. Faryal Talpur, along with PML-N leaders. He added that Imran Khan’s plan was to dominate the country through NAB. "Today, he faces the consequences of his wrongdoing." He called Imran Khan a corporate criminal who stole watches from Toshakhana and sold them.
