The Governor of Indiana, Mike Braun, signed an executive decree on Tuesday to prohibit transgender athletes from participating in female university sports. He was joined by the former volleyball player of the State University of San Jose, she Patterson, who claims that she lost a scholarship with a trans athlete.
Braun said his order guarantees equity in female sports in a press release.
“Female sports create opportunities for young women to win scholarships and develop leadership skills,” said Braun. “The hosiers do not want these destroyed opportunities in a massive way by allowing biological men to compete in female sports, and today’s decree will ensure that.”
The ordinance stipulates: “This decree requires that Indiana state educational establishments must comply with the rule of title IX 2020 rather than the reinterpretation of the Biden 2024 administration which has extended protections based on a new self -declary and constantly evolving idea of” gender identity “.

“The order guarantees that female athletes in university sports are not forced to compete with organic men, preserve the integrity of women’s athletics and protect opportunities for women in sports leagues reserved for women.”
Braun then signed another decree which “rejects the ideology of extreme gender in favor of the scientific reality of the biological sex” by strengthening the legal definitions of Indiana for “sex”, “gender”, “women”, “male”, “citizen”, “individual” and “person”.

“Today’s decree will end any confusion on the policy of our state on this issue so that we can focus on my objective of guaranteeing freedom and opportunities for all Hoosiers,” said Braun after signing the second order.
Braun honored Patterson at the signing. Patterson joined a trial against SJSU and the Mountain West conference in November with 10 other conference players and a former assistant coach about his manipulation of the Balaire Fleming Transgender player.
Patterson alleges that the university did not fill out the previous verbal offers of a scholarship for the 2023 and 2024 seasons. Patterson says that it even paid full tuition fees to play in 2023 after being informed that it would get a scholarship for 2024. However, the program did not make the offer either, according to her, while Fleming has obtained a full scholarship.

“In the end, Patterson informed the head coach Batie-Smose and the head coach Todd Kress that she could not pay for tuition fees, the room and the board of directors again in SJSU in 2024 and could therefore not return to the SJSU team without scholars”, according to documents.
“Nevertheless, Todd Kress remained firm in his position that Patterson would not receive a scholarship to play in the SJSU team in 2024, and that Fleming would receive a full scholarship to play in the SJSU team.”

Braun expressed his sympathy for Patterson during his speech on Tuesday.
“It’s simply false, and leaders must defend young women like her,” said Braun. “We have to protect their physical security and the great opportunities that accompany this athletic excellence.”
The order comes one day after the US Senate failed to place the protection of women and girls in sports Acts. Despite 51 votes by the republican majority, the Democrats obstructed the bill with 45 votes against her.
President Donald Trump signed a decree to prohibit transgender athletes from participating in female sports on February 5. However, some states led by Democrats have so far refused to comply with order.
Braun took measures to make sure that this does not happen in his state, joining the governor of Idaho Brad Little, who signed a similar decree in August.
