Sennheiser has just unveiled the latest entry -level headphones in its range of more “analytical” headphones, HD 505. The 500 series is always the more affordable line of Sennheiser, and the HD 505 is just under the Sennheiser HD 600 in the in the Sennheiser HD 600 in aligning it.
Sennheiser says that the new headphones have an adapted transducer which was designed to give a better extension of bass and triples compared to the options of the previous 500 series, while maintaining transparency for music.
They have a range of frequencies of 12 Hz – 38.5 kHz compared to 38 mm pilots and an impedance of 120 ohms, although they have a high level of acoustic pressure of 107.9 dB per volt, which means Whether they are always from something like a phone or laptop, just about.
They have a 1.8 m cable, with an outlet of 3.5 mm at the end and a 6.3 mm adapter included. The cable locks in place on the earphones but is removable.
They cost $ 249 / £ 229 (around $ 450 in), which makes them more affordable than the official price of the Sennheiser HD 600, which is $ 449 / £ 399. However, HD 600 is regularly available for less than £ 250 in the United Kingdom and fell as low as $ 249 in the United States (they are $ 349 while I write, which is not during a Large sales event or anything), so it is not difficult to obtain the STEP-UP model for the same price as the new entry-level option.
I have a very appreciated pair of Sennheiser HD 600 headphones (which I built myself visiting the Sennheiser factory in Ireland), therefore with this real price match close to the mind, and with a pair of HD 505 by hand, I compare them directly to HD 600.

We are going to search in a more complete and longer test period for our full review Sennheiser HD 505, so this is only my initial comparison – I tested them with Apple Music on my iPhone 16 Pro, with a USB -C DAC of Hidisz.
First of all, a note on the driving of a phone via a small dac without an amp propelled element: yes, I could easily hunt them, but I had to have the volume at around 85% of the maximum. I had HD 600 to 90% of the maximum to reach the same level of perceived volume. Of course, they are not difficult to drive, but you will have to keep your foot down.
One of the elements that Sennheiser said that he had concentrated for the new headphones was a light and comfortable design without a lot of strength, and I really liked it in the HD 505. They stay in place, but With a little less grip on the fiber fiber pockets, they did not warm their heads as much during the same hours of listening for several hours as the HD 600. I have no problem with the HD 600 grip or warming out, but I could make a clear difference with HD 505.
Obviously, it is the sound, however, so let’s dig in there. The HD 505 has the biggest bass and the triple boost of the two, this is obvious immediately. One has the impression that it strikes slightly lower in the bass range than the HD 600, but it is clearly very controlled – it can strike with a good sudden impact and finish just as well.
The low -end is higher than what I expected according to my familiarity with the HD 600, but all of this seems quite natural – the high tremors feel like a surprise, however.
It is not hard, at least not that I have heard so far, but it feels like taking his head out of the mixture in a way that does not seem neutral. This means that you can really dig into the details in higher voices or triple percussion, and the Combo of the Highs and the Forms of the Instructions means that the sound also feels high energy.
However, HD 600 has an additional level of naturalness in the global sound which is particularly obvious in the mid -range. It seems that there is more space so that the elements move through these frequencies – a larger room to play when they do not integrate between the steeway bass and the treble of HD 505.
This means that the large provisions of swelling instruments are more transported, and I felt more wrapped by rich and dense mixtures. It also means that the different instruments in very busy songs felt a little more organized in the sound scene – not in a way that deprives them of life, but in a way that gives them the additional ability to shine and Show additional details.
This means that the overall sound scene of HD 600 seems more unified, with a more fluid flow from top to bottom, and above all a more natural sound during this whole transition. Am I lacking a bit of additional bass stroke in some songs during the HD 600 HD 505? Yes, at the beginning – but once I am in the complexity of what the HD 600 offers, I am happier.
Of course, none of this is a surprise since HD 600 is theoretically a big leap on the price above HD 505-but as I mentioned above, you can find them at a price So close to practice, that I think that HD 505 can find it difficult to get out of the shadow of HD 600, unless they get their own price drop for a long time.
The Sennheiser HD 505 are available immediately on Amazon, and we will soon have our full exam to see if they can make our list of the best wired headphones.
