The chief of his own faction of Jamiat Ulema-I-Islam (JUI-F), Maulana Fazlur Rehman issued a severe warning to the federal government on Sunday, saying that his party could “take control of Islamabad in a week’s notice” if he was pushed by the edge.

Addressing the Shaair-E-Islam conference in Battagram, the head of Jui-F declared that his party had rejected the 2018 and 2024 general elections, describing them as “fraudulent and manipulated”. He accused the management coalition of lacking legitimacy and warned the establishment not to ignore the will of the public.

“These types of governments cannot last,” said Rehman. “Those who consider themselves powerful should bow before the will of the people.”

By affirming that his party represents constitutional supremacy, the head of Jeu-F has promised to lead a movement which would cause a “revolution” in the country. “We want the rule of law and the constitution. The Jeu-F workers will be in the field, and success will be ours, because the power of Allah is with us,” he added.

Taking a strong anti-American position, Fazl accused Washington of hypocrisy and betrayal. “The same America who has abandoned us several times now asks to join his hands again, invoking the name of the Prophet Ibrahim (AS),” he said. “But how can we forget the role of America in the oppression of Muslims in Palestine, Libya, Egypt, Syria and Jordan?”

Referring to the recent praises for US President Donald Trump by the government, he criticized the appointment of Trump Prime Minister for a Nobel Peace Prize. “Our point of view is clear: if Trump exists, peace does not do so-and if peace exists, Trump does not do so,” he said.

The Chief Jui-F also expressed his solidarity with Iran in opposition to Israel and undertook to defend the sacred nature of the Holy Sites. “We are attached to the unity of the Ummah Muslim and ready to protect the Haramain,” he said.

Warning of disastrous consequences, he said that his party was “forced” to confrontation. “We deprive national security, but if the necessity results from it, we will declare jihad and will link our lives to the defense of this country,” he said.

Reiterating his rejection of the dominant political order, Fazl said that his party would continue to oppose the current configuration. “We have not allowed the previous government to operate, and we will not allow it either,” he said. “We are not willing to accept this government and will continue to stand against it.”

The conference was also discussed by high school leaders, including Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haieri, who allegedly alleged that the current provincial government of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa had “beat all corruption registers”.
