The High Court of Peshawar (PHC) prohibited authorities from arresting the chief minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Ali Amin Gandapur, until March 5, extending his protection deposit.

A division bench, including judge Sahibzada Asadullah and Judge Salahuddin, heard the case on the plea of ​​Gandapur for a protection deposit. However, the chief minister did not appear before the court.

The judges noted that the legal procedure required the presence of the petitioner. “We will grant a new date, but for a protective deposit, the applicant must appear in person,” said the court.

Despite this, the court accepted the request for exemption from Gandapur and extended its surety, preventing its arrest until the beginning of March.

In addition, the court asked for details on all cases registered against the chief minister of the competent authorities.

Last year, Lahore police registered a case against Gandapur under 13 accusations, including sections of the anti -terrorist law (ATA), to incite violence near the Sialkot interchange.

The incident occurred while he was going to Lahore for the September 21 rally of Pakistan Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI), which the government has rejected as a failure.

The PTI gathering in Lahore was suddenly shortened when the police intervened, extinguished the microphone and the lights of the scene, which prompted the president of the PTI, the lawyer Gohar Ali Khan and other leaders from.

The authorities acted after the rally exceeded the 18-hour deadline set in the non-objection certificate (NOC).

Gandapur, leading a KP convoy, missed the deadline but finally arrived on the site, briefly speaking to the supporters. His convoy would have included 1122 rescue ambulances and heavy equipment to eliminate roadblocks.

Later, videos circulating online showed that the chief minister of KP breaking the window of a truck with a rifle.

Following the incident, an FIR was filed with the Manawa police station, accusing Gandapur multiple offenses, including an attempted murder.

According to the FIR, he led an armed group to the Sialkot interchange, the crowd that tried to fire the vehicles in place of the toll under his instructions.
