The AMD Ryzen Threadripper Pro 9995WX is now available for purchase from large retailers, including Amazon and Newegg, with a starting price of $ 11,699 – much cheaper than initial forecasts.
This is the upper chip of the new WX WX 9000 series from AMD and is built on the latest Zen 5 architecture, sporting 96 cores, 192 threads, and offers a 5.4 GHz boost clock.
The 9995WX uses the 4 NM TSMC process and corresponds to the STR5 socket. The CPU supports the DDR5-6400 memory at 8 channels, offers up to 148 PCIE tracks and carries a 350W TDP.
For professional workloads
This processor is intended for professional workloads which can evolve on dozens of threads.
AMD lists compatibility with chipsets like Pro 695, TRX50 and WRX90.
The chip also supports ECC memory and includes features such as AMD Pro Technologies and Expo for memory adjustment.
For those who perform very parallel tasks such as the rendering of visual effects or scientific modeling, this processor can provide an impressive flow, but at this price, it is difficult to recommend unless the application really pushes the limits of the nucleus number.
