The holiday announced after heavy rains have wreaked havoc in Karachi

Sindh -chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced a public holiday in Karachi for Wednesday following strong precipitation. The announcement came after an emergency meeting at home CM on Tuesday, where the aggravation situation was examined.

Shah has urged citizens to stay inside and avoid unnecessary trips, warning that more rain is expected and the holidays aim to protect the public from new difficulties.

According to a press release from house CM, Karachi received 245 millimeters of narcotic rain in just 12 hours. Torrential rains have led to numerous urban floods, to paralyze the traffic system and to extend the infrastructure of the city.

The officials informed the meeting that, even if several major roads remain flooded, drainage efforts are underway. The rain sewers actively unload rainwater, and certain major arteries have been partially eliminated, but the challenges persist.
