The IMF delegation meets President Zardari to examine economic progress

A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), led by Jihad Azour, met on Friday the Pakistani president Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad to discuss the country’s economic situation and the current IMF program.

The Minister of Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb, Senator Saleem Mandviwalla and other senior officials also attended Reunion.

The president welcomed the support of the IMF in Pakistan, declaring that the program had helped stabilize the economy and more stimulate growth.

He also recognized the broader IMF contribution to economic development in emerging markets, noting its vital role in the progress of Pakistan.

The IMF delegation expressed satisfaction with the economic reforms of Pakistan and described the current program as “moving in the right direction”.

The members of the delegation stressed that the program had helped reduce inflation and the budget deficit and the strengthening of Pakistan exchange reserves.

Thanking the IMF for continuous support and cooperation with Pakistan, President Zardari also appreciated the Ministry of Finance for his efforts to improve the national economy.

Earlier Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed the determination of his government to accelerate institutional reforms and consolidate macroeconomic stability, saying Pakistan is now going from restoration to sustained growth.

“With the grace of Allah, Pakistan is now going from economic stability to sustainable growth,” said Shehbaz Sharif at a high -level meeting with a delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) led by Jihad Azour at the PM office.

He stressed that the government’s absolute priority was not only to maintain macroeconomic gains but also to eliminate complete, crucial institutional reforms for long -term resilience.

The discussions during the meeting focused on the implementation of the current program of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Pakistan.

The two parties expressed their satisfaction on the progress made and the positive impact of the current reforms.

The IMF delegation praised the reforms undertaken by Islamabad and provided continuous continuous support for the economic stabilization of Pakistan and the inclusive growth program.
