The IMF raises eyebrows on the RS344B subsidy

Islamabad:

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has raised concerns concerning the supply of 344 billion rupees to various sectors without approval from the National Assembly.

Sources have said that the multilateral lender called the Defense grant, independent power producers (PPI) and other sectors without the

NOD of Parliament a violation of the Govt-Imf agreement.

The federal government also spent RS344,66 billion during the current financial year in the form of subsidies.

The government has distributed 115 billion rupees to PPI, to 30 billion rupees for flood victims in Sindh and 6 billion rupees at the Federal Board of Return (FBR).

Likewise, it spent 14 billion rupees for solarization, 23 billion rupees in anti -terrorist initiatives and 2 billion rupees on technological improvements.

Likewise, the government has also published 3.7 billion rupees for the Reko DIQ project, 520 million rupees for the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) and 7 billion rupees for parliamentarians’ diets.
