- RX 9070 XT of AMD is now considerably faster than at launch
- It’s 9% faster, in fact, with the latest graphic driver compared to the initial version
- This is based on comparative analysis on a series of games led by unsightly equipment, and these results are largely reflected elsewhere
AMD’s RX 9070 XT Graphics Card is considerably faster than it was when the GPU was launched thanks to improvements in Red Team Pilots, including new tests.
This comes from equipment not under box on YouTube (as Videocardz points out), which had seen reports on performance increases and wanted to check these claims.
And they turned out to be correct, because on the basis of landmarks made in a series of 16 games (at 1440p resolution) by Unboxed equipment, the RX 9070 XT was faster at 9% than with its launch graphics pilots (since March 2025).
This comparative analysis game used the latest AMD adrenaline graphics pilot (version 25.6.3), but also included the NVIDIA RTX 5070 not only for the perspective, but also to ensure that these gains were made due to the drivers.
This had to eliminate the possibility that the boost of almost 10% observed by the RX 9070 XT could have been the result of corrective applied to games. So, if the RTX 5070 TI had shown similar gains, the conclusion would be that it was due to the game, not to the pilot, to the optimizations – but this is not the case.
Admittedly, with some games, the RTX 5070 TI has witnessed the frequency of image frequency similar to the AMD graphics card, which could indicate that these improvements were indeed due to an update for the game (or more updates over time). Or indeed Nvidia drivers have also improved by a similar amount, which is of course perfectly possible. There were some victories for the RTX 5070 Ti, although they are more aberrant, as a gain of 36% Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 (which was due to a buckt correction).
The large thrust of the results of the Unpaded equipment, however, is that the RX 9070 XT is considerably better, with the 9% boost mentioned (from 116 frames per second to 126 on average) compared to a gain of 2.5% (119 images per second at 122) for the Nvidia Upper-Six GPU. This includes a speed gain of 27% for the AMD graphics card in remastered Spider-Man.

Analysis: the increasingly tempting value proposal of AMD
Of course, there are a lot of mobile parts here in terms of games chosen to test and applied graphic settings (and the configuration of the test PC). There was not much difference in 4K resolution, it should be noted, with a gain of 4% for the 9070 XT against 3% for the 5070 TI.
So, it is hardly a final result, and we must be cautious around him. However, the difference at 1440p seems to be large enough to justify certain raised eyebrows, and these types of gains have also been observed elsewhere, as indicated.
It therefore seems that AMD has made considerable progress to perfect its adrenaline graphic pilots – much more than Nvidia – since the range of RDNA 4 graphics cards has been launched. Or, to a certain extent, this could reflect the red smoothing of the team with the performance with lower resolutions (since the 4K boost is much lower, and barely different from what Nvidia has managed with the RTX 5070 Ti).
This is excellent news for those who have already bought an RX 9070 XT, of course, and in fact a substantial increase in free speed, so to speak. It is also proof of the effect of “fine wine” which is generally associated with AMD drivers, which means that they age very well that time continues.
What about the situation for those who plan to buy an RTX 5070 TI or RX 9070 XT? To begin with, they can consult our main comparison of these GPUs, but in terms of performance in this unsuccessful test, there is not much with each other.
At 1440p – The resolution that these graphics cards will be mainly used – AMD has made its socks very well as indicated, and the 9070 XT is now the card faster, but only 3%. There are also other arguments in favor of Nvidia around the advantages of DLSS 4 and the multi-frame generation, it is therefore a very narrow battle here.
So this means that prices are absolutely essential – and of course, the regional prices also – and this is where AMD marks victory, certainly in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia. At Newegg US currently, the NVIDIA GPU is 20% more expensive (it is normally more, however), and in Australia, the Gulf is more like 30%. Wherever you live, the story is probably very similar, unless you can find a very good aberrant value of an agreement on RTX 5070 Ti (like this in the United Kingdom currently).
And since, unless you are really hungry for DLSS 4, the RX 9070 XT is now much stronger from these GPUs in terms of this very important price / overall performance ratio.
