Dallas: A horrible incident sent shock waves through the community to East Dallas, Texas, after a man of Indian origin of 50 was brutally murdered and beheaded by his colleague in front of his wife and adolescent son.

The horrible incident took place early in the morning on September 10 at the Downtown Suites Motel located on Samuell Boulevard, where the victim, Chandra Nagamallaiah, worked as a manager for three years.

According to Dallas police, the dispute started when Nagamallaiah told his employee, Yordanis Cobos-Martinez, so as not to use a broken washing machine. The argument quickly turned into a violent confrontation.

Suddenly Cobos-Martinez released a knife and repeatedly stabbed Nagamallaiah, forcing him to flee to the Motel office when he was seriously injured. Nagamallaiah’s wife and her 18-year-old son, who were already inside the office, desperately attempted to intervene, but Cobos-Martinez was unstoppable.

The suspect beheaded Nagamallaiah in front of his family, then kicked the head cut towards the parking lot before placing it later in a dumpster. The frightening scene was captured on the Motel security cameras, which showed a trace of blood extending from the room to the front office.

The application of the United States in the area of immigration and customs (ICE) called the “unthinkable” murder and admitted that Cobos-Martinez had been released from police custody earlier in 2025 in a surveillance order due to the absence of expulsion flights available to Cuba.

Ice admitted that, with hindsight, released it had been an error and that it should not have been free.

The suspect, a Cuban national, has now been arrested and accused of capital murder. He is currently detained in Dallas County prison and the detectives have obtained a search warrant to collect additional evidence on the crime scene.

Nagamallaiah, originally from the Indian state of Karnataka, was known as a hardworking man, honest and family who was deeply responsible for his relatives.

The Consulate General of India in Houston expressed deep pain about the incident, declaring:

“We are in continuous contact with the bereaved family and providing any possible assistance. The accused is in police custody of the Dallas police, and we closely monitor the case. ”

The shocking murder left not only the Indian community but also other groups of Asian immigrants in depth and angry.

On the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), many users have expressed their indignation at the lack of traditional media coverage and have raised serious concerns about the safety of immigrant workers and the growing incidents of anti-Asian violence.
