- Insta360 published a new teaser for a launch event on April 22
- He has the slogan “all day, all night, all angles” and alludes to a new 360 camera
- Recent leaks suggest that he is preparing to launch insta360 x5
Insta360 has long dominated our guide for the best 360 cameras – and a new teaser suggests that he is preparing to launch a new flagship model. Fortunately, some recent leaks also gave us an idea of what to expect, with a successor from the Insta360 X4 from last year very likely.
The X4 was only launched a year ago in April 2024, but a promotional image of the Insta360 event on April 22 suggests that it will be replaced next week. The image (below), which has the slogan “all day, all night, all angles”, shows the reflection of a camera that looks very much like an X4.
We have also recently seen leaks which indicate the arrival of an insta360 X5 on April 22. The reliable @quadro_newshas published two images disclosed for an X5, and the 360 camera also seems to have been displayed prematurely in an ad in the best purchase application.

So what can we expect from the insta360 X5? Until now, leaks do not give much, except to light a slight overhaul of the pill-shaped camera and potentially a larger battery to increase its recording times.
The Insta360 teaser video is also bright on details, mainly focusing on some of the impressive creative video effects that are the brand brand. Our Insta360 X4 review also gave current Model Five Stars, suggesting that there is little room for improvement.

But with Insta360 seeking to extend his advance on Gopro (who has still not launched his GoPro Max 2) and Dji, who should launch a DJI Osmo 360 camera this year, there are certainly new features that he could lead to his flagship camera.
So here are five things that we would like to see from the Insta360 X5 of the rumor …
Insta360 x5: what I would like to see
1. Best performance of low light
Like most 360 cameras, one of the largest Insta360 X4 weaknesses is low light performance. It’s always a day camera, but the teaser of Insta360 – with the slogan “all day, all night, all angles” – suggests that its new model could improve this.
Low light weakness comes from a combination of size and sensor treatment. Our review X4 noted that, although the low -light images seem “fairly clean” after being treated with the mobile editors and an installment of Insta360, they were also “a little tankage as a result of noise reduction”.
Hopefully that an improved treatment combination and a larger sensor (see below) will make rumor that the X5 a more versatile camera which can be used with confidence outside the bright daylight.
2. larger sensors
The challenge for 360 cameras is that they have to house two image sensors, while remaining Pochable and respectful of travel. The insta360 X4 combines two 1/2 inch sensors, which are decent but always something of a bottleneck on image quality – hence the inclusion of an HDR video option to improve details of strengths and shadows.
Although I do not expect the X5 to take place as far as the Insta360 One RS 1 inch 360 edition and go to a 1 -inch sensor, it would be good to see it improved to sensors of 1/1.3 inch (the same size as those that we recently seen on the Insta360 ACE Pro 2).
This would help improve the dynamic beach, low light shooting and direct image quality of the camera. This could also help the X5 correspond to the new DJI OSMO 360, which was subjected to sensors of 1 / 1.3 ince.
It seems that a long -awaited competition in the 360 camera space could be good news for us …
3. Better heat dissipation
Although it is not a big problem in most recording modes, we found that the X4 has a propensity to warm up quickly – especially in those that required high resolution video modes.
The obvious way of avoiding this is to avoid shooting 8K static and long videos, but it would be good to see that rumor X5 would take a step forward in heat management.
This is less a problem when shooting, as there is a natural air flow to cool the camera in these scenarios – but a reduction in overheating during stationary recording would again allow a more versatile 360 camera.
4. Replaceable lens
We do not have many scruples on the quality of construction of the Insta360 X4. Our review called him “superb” in this department and the camera is fully waterproof at 33 feet / 10 m, with all its ports, rubber sealed and a practical color code inside the capture allowing you to check to make sure that everything is locked.
But an upgrade that would be useful is the user’s re -propelisable lenses. Although it is possible to do it with third -party kits, it is certainly not easy and the sending of your camera is generally the best bet for deep scratches.
It would be good to see that the X5 rumor offers something like the Gopro swappable lentil system. This can be difficult to achieve on a 360 camera, even if it is on in the Teaser Video of Insta360, where a worker crushes the camera with a hammer.
5. The same price
Insta360 X4 is not exactly cheap at $ 499 / £ 499/879 $, but it is probably the most fun camera you can buy for this money. We also thought that it was a fair price at the time of the launch of the X4, because it was only a marking of 10% of the X2 – a camera that was launched in 2022.
Because Insta360 is based in China, there is a danger that recent American prices can mingle with this price. But we hope that this is not the case and that the X5 (if it actually launches on April 22) arrives at a price similar to its predecessor, outside the United States at least.
