The internal rift deepens in MQM-P while workers protest against the reshuffle of leadership

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) is faced with internal disorders following an organizational reshuffle which sparked demonstrations between the workers of the party and highlighted the divisions within the management.

The restructuring, announced on Saturday, has placed senior personalities including Anees Qaimkhani, Aminul Haq and Dr Farooq Sattar in key positions in the central organizing committee.

However, this decision encountered resistance in the rows of the party, while the workers gathered at the headquarters of Bahadurabad, demanding more transparency and consultation in leadership decisions.

During the demonstration, the workers sang in support of the party official, Dr. Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui, while expressing opposition to the former mayor of Karachi, Mustafa Kamal, who remains a figure of division within from MQM-P.

The group also protested the mission of the Governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori, as manager of the provincial parliamentary committee.

A video circulating on social networks shows that the two groups compete.

Some members accused the management of the key personalities without prior discussion, while the reports suggest that minor sparks broke out between party workers and civil servants during the demonstration.

Adding to the tension, speculation emerged concerning the role of the governor of the Sindh, Kamran Tessori, in the reshuffle, with unclean reports suggesting that slogans have been raised against him.

Despite increasing dissent, MQM-P leaders sought to minimize the crisis. Farooq Sattar defended Siddiqui, rejecting any suggestion of a vote without confidence against him.

“There is no need for such a decision, and the party constitution does not provide it,” said Sattar.

He called for unity, warning that any division at this stage would weaken the party and would harm its political position. Sattar recognized that differences existed but insisted that they should be managed internally.

He added that any concern resulting from previous merger agreements between party factions could be resolved by dialogue.

In response to the troubles, MQM-P published a declaration rejecting the reports of a major split.

The party said that “certain elements” on social networks deliberately exaggerate the situation to create internal conflicts.

“A well-planned attempt is made to harm the unit of MQM-P,” said the declaration. He urged workers to remain disciplined and not fall into disinformation.

MQM-P also called on the media to verify the information before disseminating news on internal parties, insisting that there remains a democratic organization where the differences are natural and addressed in the structure of the party.
