President Donald Trump said that he “recommends” a 50% rate on the European Union from June 1. And these prices could strike Apple because it does not make its iPhones and other devices in the United States.
“I have long informed Tim Cook of Apple that I expect their iPhone who will be sold in the United States of America will be manufactured and built in the United States, not in India, or anywhere else,” published Trump on his social media site Truth. “If this is not the case, a price of at least 25% must be paid by Apple in the United States, you thank your attention to this question!”
If such a price is materialized, the cost of iPhones could increase to compensate for the increase in prices.
Even if Apple was to move its manufacture of wholesale iphones in the United States, this would most likely represent an enormous initial configuration cost, as well as a long delay and current labor expenditure. So this could also see that Apple must increase the price of its products, both existing and probably to come.
The next Big Apple product launches are likely to be the iPhone 17 and the so-called Air iPhone 17. If the Trump administration continues these prices, the two phones could have a launch price that will even sting the most dedicated iPhone fans.
This is a story in development, so we will update it as we know more …
