- The iPhone 17 series would not have an anti-reflective coating and stripes resistant previously
- Apparently, it took too long to apply to millions of Apple built iphones
- In other news, the iPhone 17 series would be in the calendar for a September launch
One of the first rumors of the iPhone 17 suggested that the coming phones would have a scratch-resistant and anti-reflective display cover, but now we hear that this will not be the case after all.
It seems that the original complaint could have been correct at the time, because a source “with reliable information” told Macrumors that this had been planned for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max.
But apparently, the process to apply the millions of combined that Apple built took too much time, so society would have abandoned the idea – at least for this year.
What macrumors are not clear about is whether Apple has moved to the use of a simpler coating, or perhaps a nano-texture screen (which can also reduce reflections and is currently used on certain iPads and Mac), or if the screens of the IPhone 17 series will not be more anti-reflective than current models.
A large round
Although we took this assertion with a pinch of salt, it certainly seems credible because we had not heard of this coating for a long time. And it’s a shame, because it looked like a big upgrade for Apple phones.
Reducing reflections and reflections would make colors more faithful to life and less washed in lively lighting conditions, and the other characteristic of this coating – its resistance to scratches – would obviously help protect the screen from damage.
It is therefore not surprising that Apple fans did not respond well to this news, with a long reddit thread, including comments like “this is such shame”, “really late” and “I will probably go to Samsung”, with these last two comments probably referring to the fact that the Galaxy S25 S25 S25 Ultra has an anti-reflection coating.
However, there are good news from the iPhone 17, because in a digitimate report (via BGR), it is said that Apple has finished engineering validation tests (EVT) for at least one iPhone 17 model.
If this is correct – and nothing changes – it should mean that Apple is currently on the right track to launch the iPhone 17 series in September.
