- Improved Magsafe chargers have been identified in the deposits
- The iPhone 17 could support up to 50W wireless load
- Price increases for new models have been predicted
We have the weeks before the iPhone 17, which should be in September, and some new leaks have drew our attention. In short: there are good news and there are bad news.
First of all, the new positive is that Apple’s flagship series could get a boost in terms of wireless Magsafe load, compared to the iPhone 16 range.
As spotted by 91mobiles, Apple has submitted regulatory deposits to Taiwan for two new models of magsafe chargers, with A3502 and A3503 model numbers.
Above all, the loads support the Qi 2.2 standard, which means a big jump in the wireless charging power: 50W, as opposed to the 25W on which the current maximum iPhones (current Magsafe technology is limited to Qi 2.0).
The Qi 2.2 standard also leads to an improvement in efficiency, to reduce the generation of heat and the loss of energy, as well as a better magnetic alignment – so that these new magsafe chargers should be put in place better than ever. The signs promise that the new models will offer improved load speeds for the iPhone 17.
Price increase
Less encouraging, 9TO5MAC reports a prediction of the analysts of Counterpoint Research, which suggests that the starting price of an iPhone will increase this year – mainly due to the current American tariff situation.
Part of this tariff cost will be passed on to consumers by Apple, according to counterpoint research, although it does not specify what the price increase could be, or what models could be the most affected. Until now, Apple has resisted increasing the prices of its current range, including the recently launched iPhone 16th.
Of course, all of this is not official for the moment, and the tariff situation could be very different in September 2025, but you may want to start saving. The starting price of the iPhone 16 was set at $ 799 / £ 799 / $ 1,399 at its launch last September.
The rumors of an increase in prices of the iPhone 17 swirls all year round, so this last prediction is not really a surprise. Sources of initiates and Samsung Securities analysts both hypothesized that the iPhone 17 could cost more than its predecessor – not only because of prices, but also due to new costs for Apple and new features in the handset.
