- Touch ID is planned on the next folding iPhone
- It is very likely to be integrated into the power button
- The same feature is available on several Apple iPad
After years and years of rumors, we could be only 12 months old of the launch of the first foldable iPhone – and according to a well -placed prognostician, it is likely to have come with ID Touch integrated into the power button, rather than under the screen.
This comes from analyst Ming -Chi Kuo, one of the most reliable sources with regard to Apple predictions, and is a response to “market rumors” that the fingerprint sensor will be placed under the screen – as with many best Android phones.
Apple has of course never put a touch sensor under the screen of one of its products, although the technology has been integrated into the supply button for several iPads, starting with the iPad Air 4 which was announced in September 2020.
This is the approach that the folding iPhone will use, says Kuo. The analyst has been doing this prediction for several months now, but clearly estimated that there were enough rumors in the opposite to set the record straight.
No face id
Six months ago, I predicted that the foldable iPhone would use a side key ID. There are now market rumors that she will adopt an ultrasonic under-game fingerprint sensor, but I think it’s unlikely. It should be noted that Kuo does not say that an ID sub -game tactile sensor is completely out of the table, just that it is “improbable” at this stage – even to name the manufacturer online to provide the ID touch module for the power button.
For a long time, it has been clear that the foldable iPhone would use Touch ID. The most likely reason for which the identification of the face is not implemented is that the necessary cameras and sensors would add too much thickness to the handset.
It is logical that Apple would go with a technology that is already present in several of its tablets: this means that it can try to maintain costs as much as possible, and the folding iPhone is actually an iPad (a main 7.8 inch screen has been rumor).
We should know with certainty in September 2026, that is to say at this moment that most of the advice is suitable that we will see this fold iPhone making its first official appearance. In the meantime, the iPhone 17 should be released this time next week.
