Shane Lowry experienced a rough opening tour at the US Open 2025 tournament in Pennsylvania.
The winner of the 2019 open championship pulled a disappointing peer of 9 on the first round Thursday, which put him in equality for the 137th place in the ranking. He was at 2 years after the first seven holes, but his frustrations seemed to reach a boiling point when he arrived at the 17th par-4.
After failing to get the golf ball out of the Rugueuse, the Irish golfer ended up eliminating his frustrations on a microphone. The piece of audio equipment fell on the ground after Lowry overturned it.

After the first nine holes, Lowry sat down 4-over. But a chain of Bogeys on the section only added Lowry to the difficult day.
The 38-year-old man managed to make an opinion on the third hole by 4.

Lowry entered this year’s tournament as one of the golfers who was preferred to compete for the title. His best performance at the US Open occurred in 2016 when he finished second place.

Some have raised concerns about the difficulties that the golf course presents for competitors.

“It’s exhausting,” said Lowry. “I’m not going to do much else today, just a lot of rest.”
Rory McILroy, who won the Masters in April, said the course “was impossible”.
Bryson Dechambeau won the US Open last year. He finished the first round at 3 against 73, which placed him in equality for the 53rd place.
