A shooter killed two women in a church in Kentucky and injured and injured a state soldier in front of an airport on Sunday before the police could shoot him to death, authorities announced.

Women were killed at Baptiste Church from Richmond Road in Lexington. Two men were also injured there, including one who was in critical condition, said Lexington police chief Lawrence Weathers at a afternoon press conference.

The authorities did not provide the name or age of the suspect.

“There are days like today that are extremely difficult,” said Weathers. “Sometimes things happen, you just have no reason.”

The suspect shot the soldier after being arrested near Blue Grass airport around 11:30 am in Fayette County, Weathers said. The shooting occurred on a road that rings the airport but was not linked to its operations, the police said.

The soldier was treated in a neighboring hospital and was in a stable state.

The suspect then diverted a vehicle about 10 kilometers (16 km) from the airport and fled to the Baptiste church in Richmond Road, where the individual began to shoot people on the church field.

The police followed the location of the car vehicle at the church.

The police chief did not offer any reason for the shots, but said that there was an indication that the suspect may have known certain people from the Church.

Weathers said the Lexington police would carry out an internal shooting of the shooting, as required by the policies of the department.

Blue Grass airport posted on X at 1 p.m. HE (1700 GMT) that there was an investigation to apply the law affecting part of an airport road, but that all flights and operations were now normally.
