Peshawar: The session of the Assembly of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa experienced delays while the members of the opposition began to arrive while the frequentation of Pakistan in power Tehreek-e-insaf (PTI) remains thin.
So far, a single PTI legislator, Abdul Salam, has reached the premises of the Assembly, have indicated sources.
It is possible that the session is postponed shortly after the start due to a lack of quorum, according to the initiates of the Assembly. If it is adjourned, the sworn ceremony of 25 members newly elected on reserved seats would be postponed.
Addressing the media, the head of the opposition to the KP assembly, Dr. Ibadullah, said: “If a quorum is reported during the session, we have options.”
“The oath must take place. If this is not the case, it’s PTI and we can expect anything,” he added.
He argued that a mutual understanding had already been reached between the opposition and the government on the elections in the Senate scheduled for Monday.
In the midst of uncertainty, the chief minister of KP, Ali Amin Gandapur, called an urgent meeting of the PTI parliamentary party.
A party spokesperson confirmed that PTI legislators had been invited not to enter the meeting room at the moment.
“The parliamentary party will make an important decision at today’s meeting,” added the spokesperson.
