- Kindle Update 5.18.1 is deployed
- He adds a new double function press the page to replace the screen valves
- Your Kindle can now also show you a summary some of the books you have read
The latest and the best Kindles have a lot to offer, from the colors of the Kindle Colorsoft to the largest pad of Kindle Scribe for the writing and the functions of the AI, but a degradation for many was the removal of the buttons for the turn pages.
Instead, you need to press the screen to turn, which can stain the screen. Now, as the right e-Lise pointed out, the last update of the Kindle Amazon (5.18.1 which is in deployment now) brings a double tap turn tool.
As you can probably guess by the name, once the functionality is on in your settings, instead of type on the screen, you can double the Kindle frame to turn the page of your book or to scroll through the page (as in your home screens or in the library).
It is not clear exactly how Amazon has unlocked this new Fire Tour capacity, but the Kindle is probably based on its accelerometer and other internal sensors to detect the taps.
The only drawback of this simple but effective solution is that the tapping does not yet offer the same level of control as the dedicated buttons, with the biggest problem being that you can only move forward.
If you accidentally return a page too early or scroll too far, you will need to count on screen valves to go back.
Recall recaps
In addition to the turn of the pages, Kindle devices get a new summary tool.
Have you ever come to read the next book in a series, but I don’t remember what happened in the last entry? Remaps allows you to access a brief summary of the events of a Kindle book that you bought or borrowed (provided that it is one of the many bestsellers in English supported by functionality).
It looks like an ideal way to quickly refresh yourself on what happened before diving into the last entry.
If you do not want to wait for the 5.18.1 update to automatically reach your Kindle, you can go to the Amazon official software update page to manually update the device from your PC.
