The legal director of OKX Mauricio Beugelmans leaves the exchange

The legal director of OKX, Mauricio Beugelmans, left the exchange of cryptocurrency, according to his Linkedin profile.

Beugelmans, who helped shape OKX’s global compliance policy, declares on his profile that his mandate lasted three years and eight months in the exchange, from August 2021 to March 2025.

Last month, OKX paid more than $ 500 million in penalties and lost fees in a regulation with the United States Ministry of Justice, which said that the company facilitated more than $ 5 billion in “suspicious transactions and criminal products”.

A source familiar with the case said that the release of Beugelmans was linked to the recent doj colony.

Okcoin, the US Division of OKX, also received a summons published by the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on February 24 of last year. The summons has referred to “certain people engaged in fraud and other illegal behaviors with regard to digital asset transactions”.

Neither OKX nor Beugelmans responded to requests for comments in press times.
