The charred remains of Mustafa Amir, a young man who disappeared in the Karachi defense area on January 6, were discovered near Hub Chowki, the authorities reported on Friday. Mustafa’s body was found in the trunk of its own car, which had also been on fire.
DIG CIA, Muqaddas Haider, as well as officials of the citizen police ‘liaison committee (CPLC), have addressed the media and confirmed significant progress in the investigation.
“Mustafa Amir, 23, was removed on January 6, after which his mother received a ransom call,” said Dig Haider, adding that the case was then transferred to the CIA. He credited the CPLC for their substantial cooperation in the case.
Haider revealed that on February 8, Mustafa’s friend Armaghan was apprehended after a shooting in which two police officers, including DSP, were injured. During the arrest, investigators found the phone and Mustafa blood spots on a carpet at Armaghan.
“Sensitive agencies have also helped the investigation,” added Haider.
According to the investigation, Armaghan and another suspect, Shiraz, who were close friends since childhood, would have killed Mustafa after a domestic dispute. They then eliminated the body by placing it in Mustafa’s car, fire it and abandoning it near Hub Chowki.
The authorities continue to investigate if someone else has been involved in crime.
DNA tests are carried out to confirm the identity of the remains, the first reports indicating that the body found was indeed Mustafa.
Dig Haider clarified that there was no confirmed link with international drug cartels, despite rumors suggesting Mustafa’s involvement in illegal activities. “The claim of Mustafa’s link to a drug cartel remains unaccompanied,” said Haider.
Police officials initially confirmed that Mustafa had disappeared from his residence in defense, and after his father, Amir Shuja, had contacted Mustafa’s friend, Armaghan, on January 10, suspicions grew up.
On the same day, a ransom call was received from an international number, encouraging the family to give evidence to the police. However, there was no immediate action by the authorities.
Following the discovery, Mustafa’s father also called on the Governor of Sindh, Kamran Tessori, to get help to locate his son. After the intervention, the police retraced Mustafa’s charred car in Hub Chowki.
The investigation continues that the authorities seek to identify all the persons involved in this tragic incident.
