The Superintendent of Portland Public Schools (Maine), Ryan Scallon, faces immense criticism after having compared the current battle to allow trans inclusion in the sports of women and girls to former American civil struggles involving women and minorities.
Scallon made his comments during a meeting of the school board on Tuesday.
“In the history of our country, there have been many struggles for civil rights, in particular, but without limiting themselves, to the fighting for women’s rights to vote, to racial equality and a gay marriage. In each of these fights, the opposition was motivated by fear in attempts to ostracize the others who look, act or believe in something different,” said Scalloon. “Today, I see this reproducing with transgender or non -binary students, and in particular, our transgender athletes.”
The representative of the state of Maine, Laurel Libby, who recently mounted as the key figure in the continuous resistance of the State on the inclusion trans, told PK Press Club Digital that she found the comments of Scalloon “insulting” and “unreasonable”.

“It’s insulting for women everywhere,” said Libby. “If I was a parent there, I would feel betrayed and as I have no representation, and certainly that my daughters had no representation … This is an example of leadership that actively participates in the erasure of women and girls.
“It is unacceptable that a civil servant compares the awakened policy to allow biological men to participate in the sports of girls in the fight of civil rights that previous generations have fought.”
Libby has become a leading figure in this Maine debate after publishing a VAULTER at La Perche du Lycée on social networks. The Vaulter Pole competed in June 2024 as a biological man and ended up winning a state championship as a woman.
Libby was then censored for the position and has since filed a complaint in response to try to regain his voting and speech privileges.

The former schooling coach of Maine High School and Official Allen Cornwall, who had to judge a competition involving a Trans athlete earlier this year, PK Press Club Digital told Scalloon comments as “a farce”.
“It’s a farce,” said Cornwall. “Until you sit down there and look at the faces of other girls, and then you can come and tell me why you think it’s just, I don’t really want to hear it. I watch the faces of these girls every week, I witnessed it and they were discouraged and they were injured and then they found opportunities not to compete … That’s not what they wanted.”
The executive director of the American Parents Coalition, Allelight Marre, made a statement to PK Press Club Digital condemning the entire liberal movement in Maine which strives to allow trans inclusion.
“Parents are massively agree that forcing the sexes between the sexes about children is unacceptable and they are fed up with activists who claim that biology is not real,” said fed up.
“Boys in the sports girls and changing rooms with the bathrooms for boys – families have enough. Despite this, the last push of the Maine liberals of their ideology includes inviting a transgender activist who was accused of [witnessing] Sexual misconduct involving a minor to say morning prayer in the House of Representatives today. Disconnected does not start to describe their continuous actions. It is time for our leaders to listen to parents and families. “”
