Pakistan’s chief of staff, Marshal Syed Asim Munir, met the Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Hasanov Zakir Asglu Oglu on Wednesday to discuss the regional security and defense cooperation.
During the meeting, the two military leaders exchanged points of view on questions of mutual interest, emphasizing the strengthening of bilateral military collaboration and the succession of shared regional challenges.
The army chief underlined Pakistan’s commitment to extend defense ties with Azerbaijan and praised close and growing relations between the two countries.

The Ministry of Defense in Azerbaijan congratulated the army chief for his promotion to the rank of Marshal in the field and expressed his satisfaction at receiving the Pakistani delegation.
Colonel General reaffirmed the commitment of Azerbaijan to strengthen defense relations with Pakistan, calling a priority domain under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, the Supreme Commander of the Azerbaijani armed forces.

The army chief thanked his hosts for their warm reception and highlighted the importance of mutual visits to advance strategic and operational cooperation between the two countries.
Yesterday, the chief of the army paid an official visit to Tehran where he met senior Iranian military officials to discuss the bilateral cooperation of defense and regional stability.
During his commitments to the general staff of the staff, the chief of the army had detailed discussions with the general in general Mohammad Bagheri, general chief of the Iranian armed forces.
The two parties examined the evolution of the security landscape in the region and agreed to improve military coordination, in particular along the shared border.
Discussions have also focused on the transformation of the Pakistani-Iranian border into a conduit for trade and economic growth. The two nations have reaffirmed their commitment to promote peace, stability and connectivity in the region in the broad sense.
Azerbaijan supports Pakistan
Earlier this month, in the midst of growing tensions between Pakistan and India, Azerbaijan expressed support in Pakistan and solidarity with its government and people.
The Azerbaijani government condemned the actions of the Indian army in an official letter to the Pakistani Prime Minister.
The message, delivered by the Azerbaijan ambassador, Khazar Farhadov, included condolences for people affected by the conflict and the wishes for the recovery of the injured. Azerbaijan also urged the two parties to seek peaceful resolution by diplomatic means.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Azerbaijan on Tuesday as part of a regional visit to four countries aimed at strengthening diplomatic and economic links.
The visit follows stops before Turkiye and Iran, where the Prime Minister had high -level discussions on bilateral cooperation, regional connectivity and mutual development objectives.
The tour will end in Tadjikistan, where the Prime Minister is expected to attend the international glacier conference from May 29 to 30.
