Barely person’s surprise, the Dallas Mavericks selected Cooper Flagg with the higher choice of the NBA 2025 draft.
Flagg, 18, has become one of the youngest basketball stars taken at n ° 1. LeBron James retains the distinction of being the youngest player in the history of the League to be taken with the first choice. Flagg described the moment when he heard his name called by the NBA commissioner as “a dream come true”.

While Flagg mainly spent time in the traditional before position during its only season in Duke, the team’s list also listed it as a goalkeeper. The former Mavericks player and current coach Jason Kidd admitted that he adopted a more nuanced approach to players’ positions.
“I don’t look at the job,” Kidd said at a press conference.

Flagg is expected to make his debut at the NBA Summer League on July 10 against the Los Angeles Lakers. Kidd revealed that he wanted to see Flagg in action as a leader.
“I want to put him to the leader. I want to make him uncomfortable and see how he reacts. I can perform the show. Being able to play (shooting guard). Play (little attacker). He is comfortable playing this. We want to push. I think he will answer in a positive way.”

The owner of Mavericks, the owner of the Cuban, supported the idea of testing Flagg to the point of a leader. Kidd said he had received a text from the billionaire by reading: “The leader, the leader, the leader, lets him intensify the ball.”
The 9-inch 6-inch basketball phenomenon was accused of raising the ground and setting up the offense in Duke. He finally directed the Blue Devils in assists.

Kidd postponed the concerns concerning flagg potentially making mistakes while manipulating the ball as he played the position of the guard.
“It is good to fail, it is good to return the ball. We talked about this. I just understand the guys I witnessed who were young from Giannis (Antetokounmpo), giving him the ball, and he failed, but he wanted to come back and have the ball.”
Kidd expressed his enthusiasm about Flagg with the ball in Summer League in Las Vegas. “I am delighted to give him the ball against the Lakers and to see what is going on. Let’s start right away,” said MAV head coach.
