The merchants announced a complete drop-down strike on April 26 in the province of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in solidarity with the people of Palestine.

The announcement was made by the main vice-president of Jamiat Business Forum, Mushtaq Ahmed Khalil, who said that the strike would include the entire province, including the capital, Peshawar. He confirmed that all major trader organizations had declared support for this decision.

A special meeting was scheduled for April 24 in Peshawar to finalize the preparations. According to Khalil, arrangements for a peaceful strike are already underway.

He also pointed out that social media platforms are actively used to promote the boycott of Israeli products in parallel with the planned event.

Coordination with various commercial organizations is underway, and market managers would have provided full cooperation in closing companies for the day.

Discussions are also underway with representatives of the transport sector to extend participation.

Jamaat-E-Islami (JI) announced a national strike on April 26 to protest against the ongoing military operations in Israel in Gaza and to express its solidarity with the Palestinians. The call was made by JI chief, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman, during a large pro-Palestine rally held on Sunday along the Islamabad highway.

Addressing thousands of participants, Rehman condemned what he described as a genocide in Gaza, where more than 51,000 Palestinians were killed since Israel launched his military response to the October 7 attack in Hamas.
