The Federal Ministry of the Interior has asked the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (KP) authorities to provide Afghan student files registered in the province as part of an update of the database of its foreign nationals.
The Ministry’s security unit sent an official letter to the provincial interior secretary, requesting that the details of Afghan students be submitted by March 27.
This decision comes as Pakistan approaches the last phase of its repression against undocumented foreigners, including holders of Afghan citizen cards (ACC).
The government has ordered all illegal Afghan residents to leave by March 31.
The authorities say that more than 876,000 Afghans have already left Pakistan since the start of the repatriation campaign, with thousands of others that should leave in the coming days.
The government has assured that the deportations will be carried out with humanity.
To facilitate the process, managers have organized medical food and assistance for those returning. However, the authorities warn that strict legal action will be taken against those who remain beyond the deadline.
Earlier, the KP government had decided to respect the decision of the federal government on the repatriation of Afghan refugees.
However, it was specified that the refugees would not be expatriates by force from KP but would have the possibility of voluntarily returning to their country of origin.
For this, they will also receive the necessary installations.
The central government has given a deadline of March 31, 2025 to all Afghan refugees who are illegal or who have proof registration cards to leave Pakistan and return to Afghanistan.
