Islamabad:
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has planned the start of monsoon rains across the country from June 25, with spells of heavy rains likely to continue until July 1. However, an alert of possible urban floods in low areas has also been published.
According to PMD, wet winds are entering the country’s upper parts, and their intensity should increase in the coming days.
From June 24 to July 2, the areas of Azad Cashmire, notably Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, Poonch, Hattian, Bagh, Haveli, Sudhanoti, Kotli, Bhimber and Mirpur, should receive rains and thunderstorms, with chances of heavy opening lines in isolated places.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, districts like Diamer, Astore, Ghizer, Skardu, Hunza, Gilgit, Ghanche and Shigar can undergo precipitation between June 26 and 29.
From June 25 to July 1, heavy rains with thunderstorms are expected in the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, Murrier, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialk Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Okara, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, Bhakkar and Mianwali.
In southern Punjab, regions like Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, DG Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Rahim Yar Khan and Layyah can see the rain between June 26 and 28.
Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa districts, notably Dir, Chitral, Swat, Kohistan, Malakand, Bajaur, Shangla, Battagram, Biner, Kohat, Bannu, Di Khan, Mohmand, Khyber, Waziristan, Orakzai, Manseha, Abbottabad, Haripur to receive rain from July 25.
In Balutchistan, the rain is expected from June 25 to 28 in Shirani, Musakhel, Loralai, Sibi, Barkhan, Naseerabad, Qila Saifullah, Lasbela, Khuzdar, Awaran, Jafarabad, Dera Bugti and Kohlu.
Sindh can receive precipitation between June 25 and 28 in Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Khairpur, Kashmore, Hyderabad, Tharparkar, Mirpurkhas, Sanghar, Jamshoro, Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Thatta, and Karachi.
The PMD warned of sudden potential floods in the Torrents of DG Khan hill, northeast of Punjab and Kashmir, in particular from June 26 to July 1.

Urban floods are also expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Nowshera, Peshawar, and perhaps in Hyderabad and Karachi between June 26 and 28.
There is also a risk of landslides in the hilly regions of KP, MIRCH, GALIYAT, CACHEMIRE and GILGIT-BALTISTAN.
The authorities have been warned of potential damage to poorly built houses, electric posts, vehicles, advertising advice and solar panels due to strong winds and heavy rain.
