The morning show Season 5 is officially moving forward, which isn’t surprising given that it’s one of Apple TV’s flagship productions and most popular TV shows — but it’s also one of the most controversial.
Is the show a fictional behind-the-scenes look at all the drama and scandals that go on on UBN’s The Morning Show? An escapist and enjoyable soap opera watch? Or is it silly, “chaotic,” or “the most ridiculous show on television,” as some critics have described it? Well, it’s really a mix of all of the above.
The program led by Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon is certainly a unique viewing experience. Indeed, the series has attracted many viewers: Deadline reported after the third season that it was the most-watched show on Apple TV and broke records.
The fourth season was released in September 2025, and the week it launched, the streamer revealed that the multi-Emmy Award-winning series had been renewed for a fifth series. So what do we know so far about where this next chapter will take us? Who can we expect in the cast, and what is the potential release date? Like current news on the morning TV channel: here is all the news:
The Morning Show season 5: release date speculation
Although no exact release date has been announced for The morning show season 5 for now, looking back on the previous four series of the series, we might wait a bit. Traditionally, there is a two-year gap between each series, and although the most recent series was reportedly delayed by Hollywood strikes, it is possible that there will still be the same length of time between seasons 4 and 5.
So, with the new series being announced in September 2025, this could mean that the next season might not hit our screens until the second half of 2027. But, as we said, nothing is confirmed yet, and perhaps the production team could surprise us with an early start, just like the TV presenters of the series.
The Morning Show season 5: trailer speculation
There’s nothing for the trailer yet, but keep checking back, and as soon as the news breaks, we’ll upload the trailer for the new series.
The Morning Show season 5: casting, confirmed and speculated
Spoilers follow for previous seasons of The morning show.
We know that the show’s two main female leads – Jennifer Aniston, who plays TV host Alex Levy, and Reese Witherspoon, who plays the bubbly Bradley Jackson – will be back, and it’s likely that Billy Crudup, who plays the ruthless Cory Ellison, will also make a return.
While other guest stars have yet to be confirmed – and there are normally some surprise big names announced each season – it’s also very likely that we’ll see the returns of:
- Néstor Carbonell as Yanko Flores
- Karen Pittman as Mia Jordan
- Mark Duplass as Charlie “Chip” Black
- Jon Hamm as Paul Marks
- Nicole Beharie as Christine “Chris” Hunter
- William Jackson Harper as Ben
However, there are a few characters we probably won’t see again. The first – spoiler alert! – is Stella Bak (Greta Lee) who, after a power grab and some serious underhanded maneuvering, fell on her own sword and was last seen emigrating to Naples, Italy.
The second is channel boss Céline Dumont (Marion Cotillard), who was ultimately ousted at the end of season 4 and sent back to France to be the “scapegoat” for her family’s misdeeds.
The Morning Show season 5: potential plot
To catch everyone up – and, obviously, stop reading here if you’re not up to date on Season 4 – the end of Season 4 was a bit of a whirlwind. Alex Levy was forced to resign by Celine, who said she would reveal Alex and Paul Marks’ (Jon Hamm) questionable deals with Russian oligarchs to try to free Bradley Jackson from the Belarusian prison in which she was imprisoned.
But Cory proved he had a moral bone in his body when he helped Alex controversially reveal that Celine and her family were behind the cover-up of the Wolf River contamination; and they denounced her by denouncing her speech on loudspeaker, during a live press conference, during which she implicated herself in the scandal.
The final scenes saw Bradley and Alex emotionally reunite as she was released from prison. “I’m sorry I screwed up,” she cried in Alex’s arms, while Alex reassured her that it was actually the opposite: “You changed everything,” she told her.
So now Bradley and Alex will likely be back as UBN leads, but how can the network – which continually claims to pride itself on transparency – continue after these huge scandals? It’s likely that Bradley and Alex will have to work once again to improve the channel’s reputation and viewers’ trust in the show. And who will be the new board members recruited to help restore confidence in UBN? Now guess which guest stars will be recruited for this role – and, like other previous nefarious characters, what agenda they will bring with them.
And as for that final, affectionate scene with Alex and Paul (“I think I got a little hurt,” Alex says, responding, “Well, I think I’m building up a tolerance”)? It’s a safe bet that that special look they gave each other when the elevator door closed means their romance is far from dead — in fact, it seems dead to be back in Season 5.
As head of programming for Apple TV, Matt Cherniss said: “The morning show continues to deliver addictive, entertaining and provocative stories that we all love. And we can’t wait to see where it goes next.
The Morning Show: The Future
Although the show is attracting record numbers of viewers to Apple TV, it’s likely that the streamer will want to continue airing The Morning Show for as long as possible.
However, it seems like there’s a bit of hesitation on the part of showrunner, Charlotte Stoudt. Talk with Deadline on the future of the show, She said: “It’s partly an Apple question. And also the actors. They’re very busy and they have a lot of other things to do. I would say we’re early enough in the writing room this year that my real answer to that question is, I’m not sure. [It’s] a very destabilizing period. »
