The NCRC report explores the emerging problems of children’s rights

Islamabad:

A report on the rights of the child unveiled by the National Commission on the Rights of the Child (NCRC) seeks to draw attention to emerging issues such as vulnerabilities linked to the climate, online protection of children and the situation of marginalized groups, said an NCRC official on Sunday.

The report on the state of children in Pakistan 2024, prepared in accordance with articles 15 and 17 of the 2017 NCRC law, provides an evaluation based on evidence of the status of children across the country.

The report deals with the international obligations of Pakistan and the commitment of Pakistan with the international mechanisms and executives of human rights.

On this basis, the report adopts a thematic approach and examines the rights of children through the four main pillars of the UNCRC: development, survival, protection and participation. Each section examines emerging trends, legal frameworks, institutional responses and disparities, added the official.

A methodology based on evidence in several stages has been used, combining a complete literature review, an analysis of the secondary data and the commitment of the stakeholders.

Based on this research, analytical tools and data models have been developed and shared with federal and provincial carriers to promote consistency and inclusiveness in data collection.

The scope and thematic priorities of the report have been identified in accordance with the NCRC 2023-26 strategic plan, guaranteeing alignment with its mandate and national childhood rights program.

These models specifically requested data disaggregated by sex, disability status and minority identity in order to identify the disparities affecting marginalized children.
