The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has published a national alert urging citizens to take precautionary measures because moderate to strong precipitation are planned in most regions of the country over the next three days.
According to the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), operating within the framework of the NDMA, a three -day perspective on meteorological impact has been released, predicting generalized precipitation fueled by humidity in the Oman Sea and the Bengal Bay.
Forecasts raise concerns of sudden floods, in particular in areas located nearly local villahs and rivers.
Substantial increases in river flows are planned in the main rivers, including Indus, Kabul, Jhelum (upstream of Mangla) and Chenab.
Key dams such as Tarbela, Guddu, Kalabagh and Chashma are currently experiencing low in medium floods.
Meanwhile, water levels at the Taunsa dam should reach average flood levels during the current damp fate.
The NDMA has also warned against the increased risk of sudden floods in the torrent regions of the hill of Dera Ghazi Khan and several districts of Balutchistan, notably Barkhan, Kohlu, Musakhel, Dera Bugti, Naseerabad, Sibi, Loralai, Zhob, Kalat, Khuzdar, Awaran and Panjgur.
Additional vulnerable areas include Gilgit-Baltistan, Mriere, Galliyat, Manshra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Biner, Chitral, Dir, Swat and Shangla.
Residents of the hilly regions such as Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, Murrier, Galliyat and Gilgit-Baltistan are invited to remain vigilant for potential land and mud shifts, which could obstruct roads and disrupt traffic, according to the National Weather forecasting of the forecast center.
