- Epson QS100 is an ultra short-throw 4K projector
- 160 inch images a few centimeters
- 4,500 lumens, but no Dolby Vision HDR support
The best ultra short throwing spotlights are quite shiny, but they are generally not quite This Bright: The new Epson QS100 4K Pro-UHD HDR Short Throw Laser projector emits a huge 4,500 lumens.
For the context, our laser projector UST number one 4K is the Hissense PX3-Pro, and it’s 3,000 lumens, so we are talking about 50% of the Epson.
This brightness gives it great power, which allows it to project images up to 160 inches to a few centimeters. But a key HDR feature is missing: he doesn’t have Dolby Vision HDR to make the most of this brightness.
Epson QS100 Laser to start short: what you need to know
This is not the brightest projector that you will see in 2025 – the Hisense LG9 laser television is more bright at 5,000 nits, but you can really buy the Epson; The Hisense does not yet have a release date.
And it is much more brilliant than our recommended projector for day day and sports, the 4000 Lumen Epson Epiqvision Ultra LS800.
HDR takes care of HDR10 and HLG standards here, and there is a mapping of dynamic tones for frame optimization by frame – but as I mentioned above, it would be preferable that it is Dolby Vision to provide a more precise tone map and to guarantee that all this brightness is really well optimized on a scene by scene.
The light source is evaluated for 20,000 to us of a “practically without maintenance” operation, and if you are a player, there is a care of the low latency automatic mode for low -failure games. There is no 120 Hz support of any kind here, however – it’s 60 Hz all the time, even at 1080p.
Epson has individually adjustable feet, multi-point image parameters and an optional wall mounting medium, and it is designed to play well with Crestron, Control4 and Pjink compatible control systems.
As you can imagine, there is a high price for this super brighter display: the MRSP is $ 4,999 (approximately £ 3,870 $ 7,920 in), which represents a whole step back to the $ 3,499 / £ 3199 £ / $ 4999 at the Ultra LS800. However, if you want something that will dazzle among the best projectors, you will have to pay it.
The EPSON QS100 4K Pro-UHD LASER projector is now available from authorized EPSON dealers.
