- AMD DNA 4 GPUs are not even in the best -classified graphics cards in Steam
- Nvidia’s Blackwell GPUs, on the other hand, form forward
- The NVIDIA GPUs also express AMD on Amazon, and it is starting to feel like Team Red fights a lost battle – which is not good news for consumers
While the beginning of July, we have a few sets of GPU figures to digest: the STEAM equipment survey and the best-selling graphics cards on Amazon in the United States. And it seems that they are disturbing times for AMD.
First of all, let’s examine Steam’s survey for last month (June), in which the Blackwell GPUs of Nvidia (introduced from the start of this year) do much better than the DNR 4 graphics cards of DNR 4.
As Tom’s equipment noticed, Nvidia now has 3.7% of steam players running its Blackwell GPUs, and this includes 0.99% possession of an RTX 5070 (the most efficient), with 0.55% using a RTX 5070 TI. Even the powerful (and powerfully expensive) RTX 5090 has now registered in the Steam ranking, although near the bottom, with 0.19%.
Of course, given its price, that Blackwell Flagship is a very niche proposal for players – and yet it is ahead of the RX 9070 XT, which does not have enough market share to even register in the valve classification.
In fact, the same goes for each model of the new AMD DNA 4 range, none of which is present in the June survey. (They are all grouped together with the “Other” category which represents the 8% of GPUs which do not have enough share to be recorded – less than 0.15%, to be precise).
Going to Amazon sales figures, as provided by the regular leakage technique on X (highlighted by WCCFTECH). It is a less extreme image for AMD, but always disturbing.

Fortunately, the RX 9070 XT is not completely out of the radar here, as it is on a steam. I would also not expect it to be the case – the previous reports of the retailers (apply the seasoning) indicated that it dies out of the shelves at a sufficiently fast pace. However, in Amazon’s sales statistics (United States) for June, the AMD GPU is still lagging behind its major competitors in Nvidia.
The best -selling graphics card in Amazon in June was the NVIDIA RTX 5070 with 5,450 units, followed by the RTX 5060 TI (4,950 units) and the RTX 5070 TI was third (4400). The RX 9070 XT is the fourth most popular GPU with 3,800 units sold, but other DNA 4 models are far from the rhythm (the Vanilla RX 9070 only sold 850 and has not even made the Top 10).
Overall, NVIDIA increases 70% of sales (and almost 80% of income, not surprisingly, given some of the heavy price labels in Blackwell), and AMD must scratch their heads to a certain extent.
Analysis: bad news for consumers
Okay, so the RX 9070 XT sells nothing by any means, we know it. But it sells 15% less than the RTX 5070 Ti rival, at least these June figures from Amazon (again, add salt). It must be a little exasperating for Team Red.
It is an AMD GPU which offers roughly the same level of performance as the 5070 TI (DLSS 4 aside) – with the Image frequencies of the 9070 XT having been considerably increased lately due to the improvements of the Radeon driver – and you pay much more for the NVIDIA graphics card. As we discussed yesterday, the value proposition of the 9070 XT is currently a good deal, and it seems to be the ideal time to buy the GPU. Remember that all of this is thrown into a context of NVIDIA technical tasks with its RTX 5000 range, and a whole load of driver misfortunes that threw a dark cloud on Blackwell.
So, frankly, it is completely confusing that the RX 9070 XT is not even registered in the GPU ranking for the Steam investigation. I mean, I can only imagine that this AMD graphics card is right next to the graphic, and about to do so maybe next month – even then, it would always be very slow (if that happens). Especially if we consider that, as indicated, even the stupidly expensive RTX 5090 is now in the ranking.
All this seems rather confusing in many ways, and this is, of course, bad news for consumers. ADNA 4 is a wide range of graphics cards, the RX 9070 XT being a particular artist. And yes, the retail prices of the real world are not as close to its PDSF, which is disappointing, but the RTX 5070 Ti – and the AMD GPU is currently a much better value proposal.
So what gives? Honestly, I don’t know, but the hopes that burn AMD quite fiercely, ultimately taking over Nvidia’s lawn in the wars of GPU of office now seem to die.
Of course, we cannot yet delight Rdna 4, in a way. It starts to have the impression that AMD has a steep, even almost vertical climb, to start recovering from Nvidia, in order to significantly challenge the Green team on the GPU world. Despite all the problems around Blackwell, Nvidia does not seem to be breaking the stride, and indeed its sales of mid -range graphics card in particular – the RTX 5070 and 5070 TI – begin to collect more rhythm.
