We expect the iPhone 17 series to start in September, including iPhone 17 air – apparently a replacement for the iPhone 16 Plus. Now a new leak claims to show the battery that will be installed inside the air model.
Images of this battery have been published by the famous Tipster Majin BU (via 9TO5MAC), and it is locked in a steel frame, which corresponds to the iPhone 16 Pro approach. It should be noted how thin the battery is, from front to back.
According to BU, the battery capacity is around 2,900 mAh, which is close to the figure of 2,800 mAh that we heard previous rumors. For comparison, there is a battery of 3,561 mAh inside the current iPhone 16, we therefore consider a significant drop.
However, given improvements in battery life technology and adjustments that should be introduced with iOS 26, the reports suggest that the iPhone 17 air should always give you a day of battery life – even with the ultra -client profile and a reduced capacity battery.

If we believe the rumors, the air of the iPhone 17 will only measure 5.5 mm, from front to back. It is much thinner than the 7.8 mm iPhone 16, and even beats the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S25 Edge, which has a thickness of 5.8 mm.
Since we heard an iPhone 17 air on the way, there have been concerns about the battery life. The implementation of a super vintage phone is good, but that means less room for the battery and other internal components.
However, we know that iPhones can traditionally obtain more battery life with less battery capacity, because Apple develops its tandem hardware and software – so hope that the usual trick can be repeated with the air of the iPhone 17.
It should be revealed alongside the iPhone 17, the iPhone 17 Pro and the iPhone 17 Pro Max in September. Apple did not officially say anything, but well -placed sources indicated on September 8 to 10 as the most likely dates.
