Meaco launched a new portable fan with a very welcome upgrade: the battery can be removed and replaced. This means that it should be good to keep you cool for many years to come. Less electronic waste and a more sustainable product life cycle is better news for the planet, but it is also good to know that your fan is designed to stay.
Meaco does some of the best fans we have tested, and the MEACOFAN SEFTE 8in Portable is the latest add to the brand’s award -winning range. He joins the largest sefte 10 inch table and pedestal fans, such as a more compact and light option with a smaller imprint and a shorter profile.
With a motor without a silent and energy -efficient brush, the 8 -inch SEFTE is designed to be as cheap as possible. It can be used wirelessly or wireless, but disconnected, it offers up to 17 hours of use on a single load.
There are also several features designed to make it well suited to use at night: there is a night mode that deactivates the lights and sounds, and the magnetic remote control shines in the dark, so if you have to adjust the parameters in the short hours, you can do it without having to put an allated light. Meaco also made the lower levels (1-4) deliberately softer, they are therefore suitable for short-range use, while higher levels (5+) have more punch.
Technically, it is an air circulator rather than a fan, which means that it is designed to project a far beam of air far, bouncing it on the walls and ceilings, offering a uniform temperature around the room (on the other hand, the traditional fans move a large air arc, but not far away).
A battery boost
A battery hatch could spoil the appearance of a high -end product, but Meaco has taken time on the design and integrated it chic. The cover has been extended to follow the base perimeter, so it mixes and looks like a subtle flowery design.
At this stage, it is rather rare to see gadgets with accessible batteries. This is about to change, at least in the EU: the next European Union regulation requires that all electronic products offer easily replaceable batteries by 2027. Meaco is ahead of the curve here, but I can’t wait to see more devices built with a longevity in mind … Even if this is mainly due to legal requirements.
A replaceable battery is particularly good news in a fan, because the batteries tend to lose their capacity if you do not load them regularly enough. It is a danger with fans that people tend to appear in a cupboard and to forget in the winter months.
We are seeing the Meacofan Sefte 8in again to see how it works in practice. It comes with a list price of £ 79.99 and will be available to buy directly from Meaco, as well as via Amazon, from June 17. Meaco and 1056 Meaco and 1056 fans are also available in the United States, but due to economic uncertainty, it is not planned to launch the 8-inch SEFTE there.
