Islamabad:
Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Perviz Malik met Irfan Neziroglu, Turkiye ambassador to Pakistan on Friday to discuss the expansion of cooperation in the energy sector, including the exploration and collaboration of oil and gas in critical minerals. The meeting, held at the Ministry of Petroleum, also spoke of the evolution of the geopolitical environment and diplomatic links between the two countries.
According to an official statement, the Minister of Petroleum expressed his appreciation for the continuous diplomatic support of Türkiye in Pakistan, in particular during his recent tensions with India. He said that the link between the two countries had endured over time, reinforced by shared history and strategic alignment. Malik has relayed the gratitude of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, declaring that the vocal support of President Erdogan reflects the depth of the Pakistan-Türkiye relationship.
Neziroglu echoes these feelings, describing the relationship as a “proven brotherhood”. He praised Pakistan’s treatment for recent geopolitical challenges.
Discussions focused on energy cooperation, emphasizing joint venture, technology transfer and resource development. Malik noted that Turk Anonim Ortakligi (TPAO) had been temporarily attributed to Turk Petrolleri Anonim Ortakligi (TPAO). (24.87%), TPAO (10%) and GHPL (7.10%). The second, Sukhpur-II in the Sindh, was awarded to a JV including Prime (25%, operator), OGDCL (30%), Mariénergies (30%) and TPAO (15%).
TPAO also signed a joint submission agreement with a consortium of Pakistani companies – Mariénergies, OGDCL and PPL – to participate in the next offshore offer in 2025.
