- The Shark EveryMess 3-in-1 can vacuum up wet and dry spills and act as a spot cleaner
- It’s incredibly compact and comes with a range of accessories
- Available to buy now for $149.99 / £199
Shark has expanded its spot cleaner range with a new multi-talented machine. The Shark EveryMess can vacuum up liquid and solid messes, or work as a spot cleaner on upholstery. I saw one in action at Shark HQ, where it vacuumed up a Coca-Cola spill on a cream carpet without leaving a trace of sticky soda.
This 3-in-1 combination is quite unusual: in this market segment you usually get wet and dry vacuums or spot cleaners, but it’s rare for one device to do both. It’s available to buy now from $149.99 in the US and £199.99 in the UK (scroll down for the best prices at a range of retailers).
Plus, it’s incredibly compact. The US and UK versions have slightly different proportions, but either would fit in an average sized kitchen/laundry cupboard. (US version measures 10.5 x 16.5 x 13.5 inches / 26.7 x 41.9 x 34.3 cm L x W x H. UK version measures 22.7 x 36.9 x 36.4 cm / 8.9 x 14.5 x 14.3 inches.)
There are several compatible attachments to tackle different types of messes: an extendable crevice tool for tight corners, a wider squeegee to cover larger spaces, and a dedicated stain remover attachment for tough, set-in stains.
Although it’s marketed as a 3-in-1, it doesn’t seem like a wise replacement for a full-size wet floor cleaner, as none of the attachments are particularly large. However, for smaller, more delicate cleanups of any kind, this seems ideal – Shark cites broken glass and permanent marker as examples of tough cleanups this device can happily handle.
Another obvious market for these multipurpose cleaners is pet owners. Not only is the EveryMess suitable for cleaning everything from muddy paw prints on your upholstery to occasional potty training accidents, but Shark says it’s especially good at picking up pet hair at the same time.
Shark boasts a self-cleaning “Rinse & Ready” feature, but it’s a little more rudimentary than it seems: To rinse the tube, you can simply suck up a pitcher of fresh water. For particularly disgusting messes, Shark recommends lining the main bin with a 15-50L plastic bag so you don’t need to get your hands dirty when it comes to disposing of it.
The EveryMess is designed for use with Shark’s two-part “StainForce” cleaning solution, and the brand suggests that you’ll only get this kind of extreme, stain-fighting performance with this specific formula. The spray nozzle part clips directly onto the cleaning cartridges, replacements of which can be purchased separately for $24.99/£24.99 for two, or $14.99/£14.99 for one.
