- The latest Steam update adds a new performance monitoring functionality
- The superposition can display the FPS values, monitor the use of the processor and the GPU, and more
- Valve says that the superposition is designed to help players understand how their PC is going and how it affects the performance of their game
Valve has published a new Steam client update which allows players to easily monitor the performance of their games.
As explained in a new blog article, this update adds a performance superposition of performance and is “designed to help you understand how your PC works and how it has an impact on your game performance”.
Unlike the previous meter of executives per second (FPS) which can be tilted to appear in the corner of a game, this new feature will monitor the frequency values of images, but will also burst the executives generated from Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) or Fidelityfx Super Resolution (FSR) VS in the game.
There are four surveillance levels with this superposition, including the single FPS value, FPS details, FPS details, the use of CPU and GPU, and FPS, CPU, GPU and RAM.
“It can show you unique min / max values and a graphic for the frequency of images over time,” said Valve. “In addition, it will show you information on processor performance, information on GPU performance and system use information. This data can be useful for understanding the causes of poor game performance, whether slow CPU, a GPU or too high graphic parameters that absent your video or your RAM system.”
When activated, the superposition will appear at the bottom of the screen, but the players can keep the display small with a single FPS value, or extend it to display the complete details when debugging a performance problem.
Players can freely adjust the live details in the game, change color saturation, text size and background opacity to their taste, show a FPS graphic over time and a graph of the use of the processor by bottom.
To allow the new performance superposition, users must go to Settings> In the game and scroll towards the new Superposition of performance section. There, they can change the position of the superposition, make a warm sky for easier access, and more.
Valve also said that he was planning to add additional data to the performance superposition, “to detect certain current hardware performance scenarios and display a more important summary of your game performance in the superimposition itself when you press Shift-TAB.”
