The official trailer for Peacemaker Season 2 is finally there – and he has rekindled a long -standing fans debate on the parts of the Canon program in the DC (DCU) universe.

Why the new trailer of Peacemaker Season 2 does not definitely respond if it is canon in the DCU
But back to the fiery online debate to which I previously referred. Before the condominiums of DC Studios, James Gunn and Peter Safran were hired – at the end of 2022 – to restart the cinematic universe live from DC Comics (that is to say the DCU), Peacemaker Season 1 was officially part of the now deceased DC universe (DCEU).
When Gunn announced the complete programming of the first chapter of DCU, also known as “gods and monsters”, in January 2023, Peacemaker Season 2 was not mentioned among said projects. Recently, Gunn tried to address PeacemakerThe canonicity of the DCU. Speaking to Den of Geek, Gunn said: “There are certain things from the old universe [the DCEU] to which we refer to Peacemaker Season 2. But, until then, they are not canon. Almost all of season 1 is canon, but season 2 will explain everything that is or is not canon. “”
Gunn doubled these quotes during a conversation with Entertainment Weekly at the SDCC 2025. So, the case closed, right? After all, if someone will have the last word on what is canon or not, it will be one of the CO-PDGs of DC Studios.
For many fans, this is the only proof they need. Nevertheless, me – and, if you look at some online reactions after the launch of the last trailer of season 2, others like me – do not think it’s so clear.
On the one hand, is the peacemaker 1.0 going to the DCU from the DCEU, or is it already in the DCU and travel to another DC Comics Universe? The latter seems more likely, especially since season 2 continues the history of Peacemaker 1.0 of The suicide team And season 1 of his eponymous television show.
That said, if it already exists in the DCU, how is it that the DCEU justice league is a cameo in the final of season 1? Yes, Gunn said their appearance No Canon in the DCU, but they would not exist in this universe if season 1 was part of the DCU, then how could they appear in the first place? You can see why some viewers, including me, are disconcerted by the darkness of all of this.
At this stage, would it not be preferable for Gunn and Safran to say definitively what the barrel? Of course, it could spoil some beautiful floors in season 2, so I understand their apprehension. If they do not want to spend the entire press tour of season 2 answering the same question again and again, however, it might be preferable that the pair confirms which parts of Peacemaker And The suicide team are canon in the DCU.
