- There is a new update for Windows 11 24h2 in preview
- It offers a full load of functionalities, although some are exclusives Copilot + PC
- The new capacities include a supercharged search in the settings, a CV crossed with OneDrive files, new useful HDR options and much more
Windows 11 The 24H2 version should soon receive an imposing battery of new features, and they are already in an optional patch for those who wish to test the waters early.
Updating the preview for May (picked up by Neowin) will become the full patch of June next month, and it is delivered with some modifications for Copilot + PCS only, as well as many goodies for those who have a traditional Windows 11 PC.
We are going to start with the latter, since most people always have a standard Windows 11 device, and an interesting addition for all those who update KB5058499 is a new CV CV feature.
As Microsoft explains, you can now go back to work on an OneDrive file on your PC if you were playing with it on your smartphone (Android or iOS). Windows 11 will invite you with a notification to check if you want to go back to a file that you only use on your phone in the last five minutes, which is a clever button.
There are also improvements for those who have an HDR display, with new options in the parameters, including a better explanation of what the activation of “use HDR” means, and a rocking to activate the Dolby (or extinguish) vision independently of HDR. Windows 11 will also broadcast HDR video in all its glory even if you have HDR deactivated (for the OS environment, games, etc.).
New sharing options (as indicated previously in the tests) now appear when you slide a file from a folder (in File Explorer), with suggested applications appearing in a tray at the top of the screen, so that you can drop the file to share it with a convenience directly with one of these applications.
In addition, when you type with voice access, you can now deactivate the blasphemy filter, and in the Settings application, a FAQ has been implemented which tells you more about the specification of your PC and what it really means. (Put a certain perspective on the quality of your graphics card, or how the amount of RAM of the system you have could affect the performance of Windows 11).
It should also be noted that Microsoft has reintroduced the possibility of opening the co -pilot with the Windows + C key Shorten as an alternative for those who do not have a dedicated co -pilot button. In addition, if you hold this shortcut (or the Copilot button), you will invoke “Press To To Talk” with the AI assistant, by which you can use the voice commands (if you have a microphone).
Copilot + exclusive PC
In the case of Copilot + PCS, the optional May update is in town with new features to be done, the additional function introduced with a reminder which provides actions linked to contextual AI.
This includes a new ASK co -pilot option in the click to do menu which appears when an image or a text block is selected, which opens the AI assistant with the highlighting content ready to go as a request.
In addition, intelligent text actions that were previously only available with Snapdragon (ARM) Copilot + PCS are now available for devices with AMD or Intel processors. This gives you options to make to sum up or quickly rewrite the text (or transform it into a list), which is made using the AI powers integrated into Windows 11. Analysis: A gradual deployment of clever powers
Keep in mind that this is an optional update as indicated, so if you take this now, you can meet bugs. Since the generally perceived wisdom is that most users will better wait until the preview update becomes a full version, which will happen next month (June 10 to be precise).
If you can’t wait to test some of these features, then jump on this upgrade by all means – you will find it by checking the Windows update as usual. However, do not forget that these features are all labeled as having a progressive deployment, so it can take some time for some of these features to filter on your PC. In this case, this is another reason to be patient and to wait until June.
There are clever powers here, certainly, and the modifications made to HDR, the hardware FAQ in the parameters and the additional file sharing options are all welcome. The supercharged research is a highlight, but it is only for Copilot +PCs, so most people do not get that.
Another notable movement is the Croice Device CV, which seems intelligently implemented, and it is a space to look at because Microsoft is defined to extend this capacity in the future. We should see that this will become much wider work, allowing all applications to resume this way through your phone and your PC ultimately, not only the OneDrive files.
In short, this should be the equivalent of Microsoft to the Apple transfer function, or at least it is the theory based on heavy clues that the company recently removed (and quickly retracted).
