- The X5 is an update of the X4 with a larger sensor, a better quality of construction and a longer battery life lifespan
- We are still waiting for Dji’s 360 camera, plus the GoPro Max 2
- The standard Insta360 x5 version costs $ 549.99 / £ 519.99 / $ 929.99
Our favorite 360 -degree camera by long -term shot has further improved with a decent and iterative update.
The new Insta360 X5 comes a year after the X4, armed with a refined low -light image quality and video modes, as well as very welcome design adjustments, including fully replaceable objectives – our first X5 impressions are about to pass shortly.
The X5 flies a walk on the publication of the 360 degree camera of Dji plus the Goopro Max 2 announced, whose exit has been blocked by Gopro for years.
It may not be a huge upgrade, but the X5 is better than the X4 where it is the most important, and more extends the domination of Insta360 into the space of the 360 camera – and this costs only more fraction than the X4 at launch.
The standard Insta360 X5 version costs $ 549.99 / 519.99 £ / 929.99 $, while the Estais bundle costs $ 659.99 / 609.99 £ / at $ 109.99 and includes an additional battery, a fast load box, 114 cm Invisible Selfie stick, Standard lens guards, lenses and a transport case.
Let’s take a look at what is new in the 2025 model.
X5 updates will greatly help improve the use of the real world
The top of the X5 upgrades list is the brand new and larger Twin 1 / 1.28 inch sensor and the Triple ‘AI’ fleas (compared to twin chips in the X4), which should offer a much better low -light video quality, and we are all for these improvements.
The smaller sensor of the X4 and the 8K resolution are pushed to their limits in each scenario other than the optimal brightness, but the X5, complete with its Purevideo mode, seems to be a very versatile 360 camera.
An HDR video active in a resolution of 5.7K is now available up to 60 frames per second, while before, the resolution and the frequencies of images were more limited – and this is something that we noticed in our review X4.
The quality of construction has also been improved, with more strict and fully replaceable lenses which will certainly not be successful with demanding users. 360 cameras have bulbous twin lenses that risk damage – but here they can be exchanged in the event of mishap.
We also get a magnetic support on the underside of the Goopro camera, which makes the camera move between the frames all the easier and faster.
The tightness has been increased to 49 feet / 15 m, the more a larger capacity battery there is longer record time – now up to three hours for 5.7K, an increase of around 40% compared to the X4. The X5 battery can also be loaded at 80% via USB-C in just 20 minutes.
An integrated wind with wind reduction mode improves audio quality in the camera, while a new wireless micro accessory is designed to easily associate with X5, and makes it a viable option as a vlogging camera – in fact, the X5 could be your one -window action and your vlog camera.
Above all, it seems that the 360 -degree videos’ editing process has been refined, with new features and tools of the Insta360 application. These include the new Instaframe mode, which simultaneously records a flat video with an automatic framework (including skills in detecting AI subjects) to keep your subject at the center of the action for the video output, without necessary edition, as well as a 360-degree version of the video which can be maintained for additional modifications, if you wish. Apple Watch and Garmin devices can also be superimposed.
And these important video files can be automatically saved to the cloud using the Insta360 +cloud service, with basic subscription options 200 GB, PRO 1TB and Premium 2TYB – The prices are on the Insta360 website.
We believe that Insta360 has provided reasonable updates to the X4 which should make X5 the more versatile camera to shoot, modify and download. We will bring you our first practical impressions shortly, but – spoiler alert if it was not already obvious – the X5 is the new 360 -degree camera to beat.
