The NFL held a moment of silent reflection in front of the commanders’ match of Green Bay Packers – Washington “Thursday evening for Charlie Kirk after his assassination at Utah Valley University on Wednesday.
The consequences of the death of Kirk led millions of people to show his support for his family, including the NFL before the start Thursday evening at the Field Lambeau.
“The National Football League asks us that you join us in a silent reflection after the murder of Charlie Kirk. The NFL condemns all the violence in our communities. We will all need to stop hatred,” read the advertiser of the AP read the speakers.

Many in the world of the NFL reacted in mourning and devastation after the news that Kirk was shot, including the old quarter-Arrière Tim Tebow. The winner of the Heisman trophy warned that “the evil is real” following the shooting on the college campus.
“Evil is real. There is no doubt, the enemy is working hard,” wrote Tebow on X. “In recent days, the weight of evil has been heavy through our country. But I know: he will not have the last word. One day, God will do everything well.

“Until then, we pray. We cry with those who cry. And we continue to fight, knowing that victory has already been won.”
The old bettor of the NFL, Pat McAfee, also shared its reflections on X, calling for the “surprising” event to see.
“I am not a politician, but I am a proud American citizen and today was surprising, sad and exasperating at the same time.”, Wrote McAfee on X. “I realized that I am a little naive how crazy that everything has gone that everything has become disgusted and devastated.

“This cannot be what we really are or become as a country. I believe that good people will always be more numerous than evil people, but damn … Today was an alarming day in the history of our country.”
McAfee also spoke of Kirk during his Thursday edition of “The Pat McAfee Show” of Espn, where he reaffirmed that he was not a person focused on political space, but he could not help questioning the shooting.
“Yesterday, each time we see a public execution of this man performing in all the palms of our hands in real time … You cannot help but ask yourself … First of all, he has family, he has children. But, too, are we a society that will really become that? Who is we going to be? On this September 11, 2025, to have a moment of September 12, 2001.”
From Kansas City Chiefs Kicker, Harrison Butker, to former NFL Julian Edelman, Antonio Brown and Golden Tate, the reactions were abundant in the football community.

President Donald Trump has confirmed that Kirk will posthumously receive the presidential liberty medal.
Kirk is survived by his wife, Erika, and their two children. He was 31 years old.
