Ron Capps from the National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Ron Capps was involved in a scary accident during Arizona nationals on Sunday.
The CAPPS vehicle came out of the starting line quickly and in the blink of an eye, the top of his car exploded. He rose through the demarcation line and in the wall of the left guard. Capps was able to get out of his vehicle under his own power.

The NHRA said it was examined by the medical team on the spot before his release.
“It was an unhappy first round, and we are grateful that @Roncapps28 was able to go out and leave,” wrote Ron Capps Motorsports on X. “The @nhra Saferi Safari was there, and the safety equipment and the chassis did its job. Thanks to our impressive sponsors like @thenapanetwork and Toyota we will be in Pomona!”
Capps at 75 wins in a funny car and made last 151 laps. He won three victories and was a finalist four times during the 2023 season. In 2024, he reached the final round in four events but failed to win a victory.

So far this season, he has reached the final round in Gainesville, Florida, in the Amalia Motor Oil Nhra Gortuninals.
Capps finished third in the ranking of the funny car last year. He was behind the champion Austin Prock and John Force, who suffered his own scary accident in June.

Force was back on the track this season to root family members and drivers when he deals with a traumatic cerebral lesion resulting from the accident.
