The Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates met Thursday in the second year of the regular season of each team.
The Reds entered the game by dragging the Brewers Milwaukee and the Cubs of Chicago – two teams which have already won places in playoffs – in the central classification of the National League. Pirates have long been eliminated by post-season claims, but the hopes of the Reds qualifiers remain alive.
The Reds defeat on Thursday could have been a devastating blow for the hopes of the team season. The third goal of the Reds, Noelvi Marte, did her part to prevent this from happening.
