- PlayStation’s projected combat project is officially called flexstrike
- The combat stick will fill the mechanical switching buttons, the management of the PS link and the stick doors instantly swappleable
- It should be launched in 2026
PlayStation’s Fight Stick project finally has an official name, alongside new details and a vague version window.
A new PlayStation blog article has revealed that Project Defanti is officially called The Flexstrike, and it should currently arrive in 2026. The news comes just before the event of the EVO 2025 combat game tournament in Las Vegas, where the flexstrike will be exposed (but not playable) for the first time.
FlexStrike will be compatible with PS5 and PC, and it supports the Sony PlayStation Link Playstation technology. Here, a Link PlayStation USB adapter can be used to connect a compatible game helmet – such as Elite or Pulse Explore headphones – as well as up to two flexstrike controllers for local game.
To watch
Like many of the best combat sticks, the flexstrike will also be customizable to a certain extent. A really cool feature shown in the trailer (above) is an exchange of “Toollerless” door. By opening the handle without sliding at the bottom, the players will be able to exchange between the square, circular and octagonal doors on the fly with the joystick. This means that you will not have to buy a separate joystick or door, or use additional tools to do the work.
The controller has several amenities that you will find on other superior combat sticks, including an exchange of stick entry for menu navigation, and a locking switch which deactivates certain buttons (such as a break) for the tournament game. The eight face buttons are also mechanical, which means that they should record instant and instant inputs.
Finally, players can use a dualsense wireless controller in tandem with the flexstrike for menu navigation, a bit like what we see with the PlayStation access controller.
PlayStation seems to invest strongly in the fight against hardware and game software. It is likely that the flexstrike will launch roughly at the same time as Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, Posted by PlayStation Studios and developed by Arc System Works; The team behind Guilty Gear strives, Granblue fantasy against: rising,, And much more of the best fighting games.
Techradar Gaming will be very eager to make a verdict on the flexstrike when it was launched next year, so stay attentive for a potential review in 2026.
